GUS Group becomes majority shareholder in IT laboratory and life science specialist DORNER

The GUS Group, which specialises in ERP solutions and laboratory information and management systems (LIMS) for the process industry, has held a majority stake in DORNER GmbH & Co KG since October 2021. It is thus further expanding its market-leading role as a business software provider in the process and life science industry. The Dorner family remains on board as co-owners.

With DORNER, the GUS Group has gained a strong IT partner in the laboratory sector and is thus consistently continuing its growth course. Founded in Müllheim in southern Baden, DORNER can look back on a company history of over 40 years and is one of the market-leading specialists for IT solutions in the healthcare sector. Both parties benefit from the partnership, in particular through an extensive expansion of the customer and partner network as well as through numerous professional and organisational synergies around the digitalisation of business processes. With the GUS Group as majority shareholder, DORNER becomes part of an experienced and resource-strong network. This supports the Baden-based company in its strategy to expand its position as a leading LIMS provider in the clinical sector.

Matthias Stromberger, Karl-Eugen Dorner, Christian Dorner: "Modern and flexible LIMS solutions are at the heart of the digitalisation of processes in hospitals and laboratories," says company founder Karl-Eugen Dorner. " DORNER therefore has a key role to play in the digital transformation in the healthcare sector, which we want to further expand together with our new shareholder and strategic partner GUS Group."

DORNER will continue to market its software offering as an independent company under the umbrella of the GUS Group . Founder and long-time managing director Karl-Eugen Dorner is handing over the management of the company to his two sons Matthias Stromberger and Christian Dorner as part of the expansion of the group of shareholders. They also assume responsibility for the company as co-partners. Karl-Eugen Dorner will support the new DORNER management in an advisory capacity in the future.

The GUS Group continues to be in a phase of steady growth. The partnership with DORNER should, among other things, help to further expand the company's market-leading position as well as the industry expertise within the GUS Group, especially in the laboratory sector. Together with DORNER and the other two laboratory companies of the GUS Group, Blomesystem GmbH (part of the GUS Group since 2017) and iCD System GmbH (part of the GUS Group since 2020), the GUS Group will become one of the leading software providers for laboratory solutions in the DACH region.

"We see a lot of growth and synergy potential, especially in the joint expansion of our product, process and industry expertise. The GUS team is looking forward to working with DORNER," says Bingler.
