Workflow Engine video tutorial
With the DORNER Workflow Engine, complex work and communication processes can be mapped on the software side and individual processes can be directly interlinked.
Clear sub-processes such as online anamnesis or master data analysis were mapped in the same way as entire institutes in, for example, sports medicine or forensic medicine with patient management, evidence management and everything that goes with it.
Thanks to its component-based architecture, which comprises well over 500 modules, this can sometimes be done comparatively quickly, as the example of the Civil Protection App developed in just 7 days shows.
And actually it is not a solution that we have explicitly offered so far, but rather the toolbox with which we create solutions and which we deliver with the solutions created with it.
Dr. Michael Busch is one of our most experienced product managers and project leaders and has kindly agreed to present our toolbox to them.

The DORNER Workflow Engine is a web framework that we have only recently started to offer explicitly. However, it has been the toolbox we use to create solutions for our customers for over 20 years.

The Health IT Toolbox
Dr. Michael Busch knows from his own experience the difference between in-house development and third-party software or between individual and standard solutions. He knows the problems that can arise when new requirements are added over time. These are costly in-house developments or expensive third-party software. Thanks to the workflow, a remedy is found.

Workflow Manager
With our DORNER Workflow Engine we map workflows. The first and most fundamental pillar is the workflow manager itself. A workflow can therefore be an individual work step. Or it can be a sub-process or the overall process in which it is integrated.

Form Designer
A workflow only makes sense in combination with a form. This is because a work step is usually also associated with the entry of data. This data is entered in forms in our DORNER Workflow Engine. With the form designer, you create these in a clear, tabular view, with just a few clicks.

Macro Editor
The heart of any application software is the programming or program logic. It controls the behavior of the application. In the case of the DORNER Workflow Engine, this is the third pillar: the macro editor!

Office Integration
The processes with the respective work steps are configured in the Workflow Manager. The respective masks for data input of the individual work steps defined in the form designer. And everything is provided with program logic in the macro editor so that it works.
There are installations that get along excellently with these first three pillars. This is why we no longer refer to the Office integration as the main pillar of the DORNER Workflow Engine. For the actual users of the software, who work with it every day, it is nevertheless often the most important. After all, they can create all the documents predefined in the system (appointment invitations, orders, findings, doctors' letters, service sheets) at the push of a button.
