Order Entry connection that works - How the East Saxony Medical Laboratory digitally connected 700 senders
Why order entry is not the same as order entry
Many laboratories have an order entry system in use - but only a few manage to really get the senders on board.
The biggest challenge lies not in the technology, but in acceptance. This is because smaller or paper-affine practices in particular need more than just a good interface - they need real simplification and support when getting started.
This laboratory shows how to do just that: with training, well thought-out processes and real benefits for the practice.
From three days to three hours - how to roll out successfully
The key to scaling lies in standardization. What began as a time-consuming three-day process became so efficient thanks to optimized workflows, automation and forward-looking planning that an entire practice can now be connected in two to three hours - including training.
The combination of technical preparation, automated installation processes and modular setup was crucial for the speed of the rollout.
Individually connected - but systematically thought through
Despite standardization, there is still room for individualization: Depending on the specialty, the practice receives a suitable mask - an ENT doctor sees different content than a gynecologist or an oncologist.
This combination of reusability and targeted adaptation ensures acceptance by the senders - and relieves the laboratory in the long term.
Tips for other laboratories - How to make the changeover a success
Start small, but with a plan: start with a pilot practice and learn quickly
Taking employees with you: Internal communication is just as important as external
Standardize where possible: scaling only works if processes are comparable
Use interfaces, but don't overestimate them: The best system is of little use without acceptance
Use feedback: What works well in a practice gets around - this ensures pull instead of push
Why this laboratory chose Dorner
Even though the laboratory uses a different LIS (laboratory information system), Dorner was deliberately chosen for order entry.
The decisive factor was not only the user-friendliness for the senders, but above all the openness of the system, which could be easily integrated and further developed.
The combination of technical stability, adaptable architecture and good support was decisive - and is reflected in the smooth operation.
